PROJECT: Interior. Natatorium to Gymnasium

Needing additional space for basketball, volleyball and other recreational sports, the existing 10,475 sq. ft. space that housed the closed natatorium became a logical location. The pool and pits in the pump room were filled. Addressing accessibility issues was a priority for this project. As such, new exterior ADA entrance ramps and vestibule were added among with new ADA restrooms. To manage expenses, a core section of the bleachers was able to be maintained. However, a new telescopic section was added for ADA seating which provided direct access to the courts. The lighting was completely replaced with new high bay LED fixtures. Given the nature of the space, new acoustical panels were installed on walls and ceiling to replace the existing metal slat system. HVAC units were also replaced to address the space’s new functions.
