PROJECT: Interior Renovation/Expansion of Corporate HQ LOCATION: Uniondale, New York SIZE: 50,000 Sq Ft
With technology continuously evolving, new office space trends emerging and prioritization of attracting and retaining talent, office design is recognized as an integral part of a business’ success. Forchelli, Deegan, Terrana LLP (FDT) held this as a guiding principle as they began to examine their spatial needs. Presenting to JRS the challenge of merging their culture and traditional core values with a future focused philosophy, JRS responded with a strategic approach creating an open transitional office environment that not only enables their current needs but also is an enabler for their future requirements. The first phase was conducting a programming evaluation to assess the requirements. This input was critical in assessing their options which ranged from expanding their footprint at their current location and renovating the entire floor or relocating to a new facility. With the programming phase and various test fits completed for the proposed options, FDT selected to remain at their current location, expanding another 7,000 square feet to their new footprint of 45,000 square feet. The design solution involved a complete gut and buildout of the new space, renovation of the reception/elevator lobby and the addition of a new conference center. Their existing space saw a major refresh which called for all new flooring, wall treatments, lighting and furniture. Program management was critical in that the project needed to be phased with minimal disruption since the client occupied the floor as the work was completed. With first impressions forefront in the design, the expanded lobby greeted a glass front moveable wall conference center designed for maximum flexibility. Perimeter offices remained intact though glass sidelights were added which introduced natural light to the open office areas and circulation corridors. Building their community culture, an open and living Café, numerous collaboration and communal spaces and state of the art digital communications to facilitate multi-office communications were introduced. Through the design solution with clean, light and bright finishes, the JRS team successfully captured FDT’s vision.
